TR Knight, Alec Mapa and More at GLASS Holiday Brunch!
On any Sunday morning, we would have gone to the church or to some friends' brunch.
This Sunday however, the DIVA, accompanied by the mom (or how we affectionately called the
Queen Mother) made an appearance at the GLASS Holiday Brunch.
The event served as a reminder of how many disenfranchised LGBT youths are out there, who has no place to call home and either thrown out due to their sexuality or on their own. It is still a chilling reminder that in this day and age, discrimination due to sexual orientation is still alive and poor kids- at such a terrible time where peer pressure is at its peak- comes another challenge on top of an
already very fragile adolescent life.
Thankfully, organizations such as GLASS and allied partners Trevor Project and Lifeworks Mentoring seeks to end such despair and instead give much needed hope to our thousands of LGBT youths.
The event this Sunday by any measure was a success. It raised not only the awareness factor but at the end of the afternoon, more than $9,000 was pledged by the generous guests in attendance to
renovate, clean and makeover the house, which was named Matt's House in honor of Matthew Shepard.
The queer VIP and celebrities in attendance include TR Knight, Alec Mapa, Wilson Cruz, Bruce Vilanch, Peter Paige, Robert Gant, Charlie David, Rex Lee, Betty DeGeneres, Desperate Housewives producer Marc Cherry, director/producers JD Disalvatore, Allan Brocka and Phillip Bartell; Ted Casablanca and friends Andrew Oldershaw, LK Avelar, Hector Monserratte, Sean Patrick Lewis, OUT @ WB's Dave Taylor and much more.
The Queen Mother had a great time that day mingling with the gays that she felt like an honorary queen mom to all the queers. Maybe she was even slightly converted.
Here are the pics from our own camera and through the lens of our resident photographer Tony DiMaio. More pictures can be found at www.ipartypix.com.

The DIVA and the Queen Mother with TR Knight. She was happy as you can tell standing next
to TR, her regular Thursday night date. On TV, at least.
DIVA keeping it real with TR Knight and DH producer Marc Cherry.
Queen Mother adopted Alec Mapa for the day to extend the Filipino queerdom in the family.
The original Queen Mother, Betty Degeneres.
This was supposed to be an All Filipino group with Alec, Queen Mum, Allan Brocka but somehow
Phillip Bartell felt it has to be inclusive. So there he is.
We just could not tell them apart, but Alec would ask us to make a (bleep) effort!
It's not so hard to find JD Disalvatore (center). Just look for a flock of gay boys and there she is.
Here with Hector, Wilson Cruz and Charlie David.
....or with just one. In this case, with Bruce Vilanch.
Invite these two together and your party would be a hit. Guaranteed.
A mini Queer As Folk reunion with Bobby Gant and Peter Paige. We missed that show.
Thank God for syndication and endless reruns.
The gay mafia at the stage. Shades by Dolce and Gabbana. or Valentino. Hard to tell.

The dashing Bobby Gant with our great friend Sean P. Lewis
Please make a donation or volunteer your services to these youth organizations. It is the best
Christmas present you would give to our own peers in this Holiday season!
