A Goddamn Hot Gay Emmy Party at East West Lounge!
Poor Sally Field.
Just when you think this country is turning the tides to civility, here comes the right wing FOX TV station bleeping our Miss own Gidget with the word "goddamn" on her acceptance speech.
Katherine Heigl- that's Heigl with a G- took the first award for Grey's Anatomy. Seriously.
Sopranos won as expected for Best drama but the lead actors went empty handed.
Ugly Betty, the favorite to win Best comedy, instead was given to 30 Rock.
Thank goodness, America Ferrara won- the first Latina to win an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy (her dress was made by Filipina born Monique Lhuillier- how cool is that!)
This and other oddities and surprises of the broadcast marks a direct contrast to the hottest and historic only gay Emmy party in Boys Town as DIVA hosted its first viewing and after party for our television heroes.
No, not the titular NBC show (though Milo Ventimiglia is as close as a demi god icon for the gays)-- but for the gay actors and shows nominated for the Emmys.
Co hosted with East West Lounge and Hector Monserratte in collaboration with the amazing organizations GLAAD and SAG LGBT Actors Committee, those who are looking for their fix of queer celebs and colleagues did not disappoint. Sure, we were hoping to have our invited guests TR Knight and Neil Patrick Harris and the cast of Ugly Betty make an appearance, but the avalanche of post parties in Tinseltown (TV Guide. People/ET, HBO, Direct TV, etc.) made it impossible for even the A listers to attend every party they been invited to.
Nevertheless, the night was filled with DIVA members, guests and camera friendly celebs flashing their minted smiles before our press at the red carpet.
Among the revelers include GLAAD President Neil Guiliano, GLAAD Entertainment Director and Committee Host Damon Romine, Reichen and his boyfriend Ryan Barry, Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye), Jason Stuart, Peter Morgan, Woody Woodbeck, David Beebe, Stephen Bowman (Bravo TV's Flipped Out), Peter Paige (Queer As Folk), Darryl Stephens (Noahs Arc), Elaine Hendrix (Parent Trap, Coffee Date), Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall- in disguise as straight reporter Danny Husk- hilarious!), Michelle Paradise (of upcoming Logo series Exes and Ohs), Jonah Blechman (Another Gay Movie), director Allan Brocka, JD Disalvatore, Survivor hunk JP Calderon, Nick Verreos (Project Runway), Jason Dottley and Del Shores, train wreck Bobby Trendy(!), Kevin Stea (Naked Boys Singing, Madonna Blond Ambition Tour), Kirsten Vangsness (CBS Criminal Minds), Amanda Fields (Project Runway model), Ilan Hall (Top Chef 2 Grand Prize winner), Colin Fickes (One Tree Hill), Lynn and Alex (Amazing Race 7), Robbie Laughlin, Tony Tripoli (Kathy Griffin: Life on the D List), Theodore Leaf (Bravo TV's Shear Genius), celebrity designer Eduardo Lucero, drag queen Jazmine, director Nick Wauters, Mr. Gay Competition founder Don Spradlin, here! TV's Meredith Kadlec and Matt Chun, promoters Paul Nicholls, John Brady, LK Avelar, Jonathan Chang and Elliott London, and much much more!
