DIVA (Diverse and Inclusive Visionary Artists) is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated in promoting the creative endeavor of multi-ethnic LGBT artists and professionals in the media.
Raised in Los Angeles, Executive Director Nelson Melegrito founded DIVA in 2003 as a result of his involvement with other LGBT organizations. He created DIVA solely to provide other multi-ethnic and cultural media professionals an alternative to network with their community and thereby, come back home to their roots.
Among his various accomplishments include: Event Chairman for Human Rights Campaign, Communications Liasion for the 2000 Democratic Convention, VIP Sponsor Committee for Outfest, Marketing Committee for GLAAD Awards, Vice President of Asian Pacific Gays and Friends, Media Liaison for APLA, E!, MTV Movie Awards and AMFAR; Programming Coordinator for Sundance Film Festival and more.
